Progressive research hub builds secure knowledge base for 1,200+ advocates
The Research Collaborative (RC) — a research, strategy, and messaging hub supporting progressive national, state, and local organizations working toward a multi-racial democracy — replaced an unusable legacy database with a Cloverleaf Professional platform delivering a multi-tiered private knowledge base of polling data, messaging guidance, webinars, and strategic research to over 1,200 members.
The challenge
RC had accumulated a massive body of research, including polling data, tested messaging frameworks, focus group findings, webinar recordings, and strategic guidance, but the legacy database housing it was no longer supported and had become effectively unusable. Members couldn't find what they needed, and the organization couldn't control who had access to what. Different membership levels required access to different tiers of content, and the old system had no way to enforce that. With research output accelerating around voting cycles, RC needed a platform that could serve as a living, searchable repository, not a static archive.
The approach
Cloverleaf deployed a Professional-tier platform with multi-level authentication and permissions, giving RC granular control over which membership tiers can access which content. Over 1,500 documents were organized by topic, population, and interest area into a searchable private knowledge base. The platform was designed to grow continuously: new research, polling data, and messaging guidance are added on an ongoing basis, with particular intensity around election cycles. A public-facing site provides organizational information while the authenticated knowledge base serves as the core member resource.
